THE Philomel Singers hosted a fundraising concert which raised over £1,000 for local charity, Evie’s Gift, held at Edington Priory Church last month.
Around 150 people enjoyed the concert to boost the charity’s funds.
Evie’s Gift was set up in memory of Melksham teenager Evie Clover, who died in January last year after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.
It was founded by Evie’s parents, Patsy and Bryan Clover, and offers support to families whose children have been admitted to hospital with life-threatening or life-limiting conditions. The charity offers financial support which can be used to help with accommodation and other costs associated with their child’s stay in hospital.
Evie’s father Bryan said, “Musical director Michael Johnson organised an amazing evening which raised over £1,000 for Evie’s Gift and we were privileged to witness some astounding solo performances from some of the county’s wonderful young musicians. The Philomel Singers were wonderful as was the Staverton School choir. The evening included carols and solo pieces and lasted over 2 hours.”
