Westbury Choral Society will shortly resume rehearsals following its summer break.
Rehearsals for a Christmas Concert on December 16th commence on Wednesday September 7th.
The choir meets at Westbury Methodist Church in Station Road from 7.30pm until 9.30pm.
New singers are invited in all voice sections but, as with most choirs, Tenors and Basses would be particularly welcome. The choir does not audition and although some ability to read music is undoubtedly useful it is not essential. Enthusiasm and commitment are equally important.
The programme for the Christmas Concert is not yet finalised but will include a wide range of seasonal music both familiar and less so along with audience carols and readings. One item being considered is ‘Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer’ – sung in Latin!
The concert will be previewed at Steeple Ashton on December 9th while the choir is pleased to have been invited once again to sing at the Carol Festival at Imber on December 17th.
More immediately the society is holding a ‘Come and Sing’ workshop at the Methodist Church on Saturday September 24th. With an intentionally lighter content including some Gilbert and Sullivan and ‘Songs from the Shows’ this afternoon event is open to all and would be good introduction for anyone thinking of joining a singing group. Registration is from 1.30pm with the workshop commencing at 2pm.
