Local theatre companies and a school choir are coming together to raise funds for Wiltshire Air Ambulance at a special concert on Saturday 19th December at St John’s Church in Devizes, at 7.00pm.
The Invitation Theatre Company from Devizes and TAOS Musical Theatre from Trowbridge are being joined by Bishops Cannings School Choir to present an evening of beautiful music, all set to candlelight.
The evening is being organised by Jemma Brown from The Invitation Theatre Company who chose the groups and soloists due to the fact they all have an exceptional reputation – so the evening is set to be outstanding.
Paul Morgan from The Invitation Theatre Company said “We are collaborating with some remarkable singing groups from Wiltshire to bring an evening of truly wonderful Christmas music. And in doing so, we hope to raise a significant amount of money for Wiltshire Air Ambulance – the whole county will benefit from this as it’s a service which we all know is so precious to our county and one that year on year does quite simply amazing things – saves lives.”
The evening is being compered by Wiltshire PE teacher Stuart Hershbein, who was airlifted in 2012 from near his home in Warminster having collapsed. Stuart, who is an active volunteer for Wiltshire Air Ambulance said, “I was flown to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol, where I suffered respiratory arrest and was sent straight for a scan. This showed that I had hydrocephalus – in other words my brain was being crushed. I was later told that I was lucky to be alive.
“This evening is going to be fantastic. Getting involved with these guys is just great and I really am the best example of someone who desperately needed Wiltshire Air Ambulance – without which, I wouldn’t be here today.”
The evening will be hoping to raise funds for Wiltshire Air Ambulance to buy two portable ultrasound machines. These pieces of kit will be available for the crew to use in critical care situations and will help save lives.
