Cliveyfest raises £4,500 for Westbury Lions

THIS year’s Cliveyfest has raised over £4,500 which will help Westbury Lions to continue to support local charities and causes.

Now in its sixth year, the family music festival in Dilton Marsh has grown into a much-loved event for the local community and a successful fundraiser for local charities and groups.

Westbury Lion Nigel Coward said, “The club are over the moon with the amount that was raised. It means we can confidently continue to support the needs of the community in the coming months.

“Putting on and running events like Cliveyfest does take a lot of time and effort, but once the event has passed and you see the reward, it makes it all the hard work worthwhile.

“It was a great day and there was a wonderful atmosphere, everyone had a really enjoyable time and felt very positive. We had quite a few people who were genuinely interested in the Lions, who we are and what we do, which is great.

“We were very proud to have a few of the Westbury Leos come along to lend a helping hand. Two former Leos came and offered to man the toilets which was fantastic and sums up the sort of people we have in our community, who are keen to muck in and help out in any way they can.”

Annie Harris who organised Cliveyfest said, “It was a great success and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We were so lucky with the weather again and the help offered by the Westbury Lions was second to none.

“They worked tirelessly from beginning to end and all had such lovely happy faces, an absolute pleasure to have around and didn’t daunt at anything. The Leos were brilliant too, but  my heartfelt and unadulterated thanks go to the two Leos who every hour checked and cleaned the toilets – these two were true legends.

“The lighting and sound  by Panik Events gave the bands and entertainers a very professional backdrop and despite a few electrical problems, not of their making, they got on and sorted it out without it even being noticeable.”
