Public toilets in Westbury are to undergo a major refurbishment after being closed due to their poor condition.
The toilet blocks at Warminster Road car park and High Street car park are currently shut. Work is due to begin at the end of February and is expected to take around 16 weeks.
A spokesperson for Westbury Town Council said, “The two toilet blocks are currently closed and in poor condition.
“The council will be carrying out a full refurbishment to create modern, accessible, and easy to maintain facilities.”
The works will include complete renewal of internal walls, floors, ceilings, fixtures and fittings, new lighting and ventilation, upgraded mechanical and electrical services, vandal-resistant sanitaryware and new unisex layouts with accessible toilets and baby-changing facilities at both sites.
Secure door entry systems with controlled opening hours will also be installed, along with external repairs and redecoration to improve the buildings’ appearance.
During the closure, alternative toilets are available at the White Horse Café, Harlees Fish and Chips and The Market Tavern.
