Local people have been raising funds with coffee mornings for Macmillan Cancer Support as part of the charity’s annual World’s Biggest Coffee Morning campaign.
Residents of Fountain Court raised £250 with their coffee morning at the local church hall – pictured below left.
Organisers said, “We raised an incredible £250 for the charity! We charged a £5 entry fee, which included as many cups of tea and coffee as you could drink, and as many sandwiches and pieces of cake as you could eat… plus a free strip of raffle tickets—an absolute bargain!”
A group of friends also raised over £750. Doreen Pearce, Maureen Woollard and Sue Brown welcomed their friends and neighbours to the event held in Doreen’s garden in Newtown last month – pictured below right.
“We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped in any way,” said Maureen. “A special thank you to all those who came to eat cake, drink coffee, chat, buy from the stalls, enter the competitions and support the raffle. We raised a staggering £764.53 – well worthwhile.”
