A concert by pupils of Jenny Firkins Music School, held on Saturday 12th March in the Church Institute, Bratton, raised funds for Dorothy House Hospice.
The concert was dedicated to the memory of Judy Mortlock who died recently. Judy was a dear friend to many in Bratton and the concert was well attended. All proceeds will be donated to Dorothy House Hospice.
Performers (in order of appearance) were Patricia Roberts, Zoe McManus, Santiago Denton, Alice Long, Suzanna Mackintosh, Callum Gee, Halle Booth, Emily Cooper, Beatrix Arnold, Erin Andrews, Abi Adams, Ben Adams, Christopher Nellis, Ruby Jazrawy-Brown, Genevieve Dawson, Mia Jazrawy-Brown, Christopher Allen, Theo Nellis, Jack Jazrawy-Brown, Timothy Lee, Thomas Andrews, Dermot Henry and Monica Meade.
Most pupils played pianoforte, Erin and Tom played the electronic keyboard. A wide range of pieces from pre-grade one to grade seven were played. Pieces included traditional tunes, tutor pieces, songs from musicals, examination pieces, popular music (including Coldplay) and classical pieces.
Performers and the audience were treated to ‘ fizz and nibbles’ after the concert. Over £500 for Dorothy House was raised from a raffle, home-made cake stall and donations.
Jenny would like to give special thanks to Bratton Plant Centre, Envy, the Duke, Savencia and Jambo of Westbury for their generous donations and to all who provided raffle prizes or cakes, or helped in any way. Special thanks to Judy’s sister, Pauline, who made the delicious canapés.
And finally a huge thank you to the performers and comperes. Jenny is so grateful for your support and generosity.
