CRIES of “awful”, “horrible” and “ghastly” were made by Westbury councillors viewing a retrospective planning application for a high fence and double gate at an Upland Rise home.
The bid for the pre-treated closeboard panelled fence with wooden post and rail, and wooden double gate and post at a property came up for consideration at last week’s highways, planning and development remote meeting.
Members saw photos of the already erected fence which staggers up in height along the property boundary from 1m to 3.18m.
“It’s absolutely horrendous,” it was exclaimed.
“Fences of that height are outside regulations,” said cllr Gordon King. “We can’t agree to this. It’s detrimental to the street scene.”
Members voted unanimously to object to the application.
