THE hugely popular Roots Session with Domenic DeCicco is coming to Countryville at Heywood House on Saturday 5th August. Created as a way to celebrate, enjoy and champion singer-songwriters, this open session will feature local and national artists on the front lawn of the 17th century country estate.
Hailing from Canada, DeCicco is himself a recording artist, producer and former band member of Praying for Rain.
“Countryville’s going to be just an amazing event at probably one of the most beautiful event spaces I’ve had the pleasure of visiting,’ DeCicco said. “Honestly, sharing the same stage as such an iconic band as The Wurzels will give our roots session artists a real buzz. I can’t wait to show Westbury and the wider area some of the most talented artists around.”
The event will be packed full of other great music, including Britain’s leading Dolly Parton tribute act Diamond Dolly, local favourites the Cley Hill Stompers, FFTP – a folk fiddle and guitar duo, and Hit or Miss DJs.
Away from the music, ticket holders can expect to see a selection of foods including Greek, BBQ, pizza and Pieminister pies, all washed down with ‘lurvely’ cider, Pimms or a non-alcoholic treat.
Families will have loads to do thanks to the team at Bounce and Smile providing rides and entertainment in the kids’ area, while Westbury and Warminster Youth Club will be hosting the country games, with tug of war, bean bag throwing, wally wanging and loads more to get stuck into, ably assisted by the Rotary Club of Westbury. This event is a fundraiser for the youth club.
Parking and Travel
There will be parking onsite with a minimum donation of £3 to the Westbury and Warminster Youth Club. Disabled parking will also be available. Free water will be available onsite for designated drivers. A taxi rank will also be set up onsite and organisers are urging the general public to take a taxi if they can, as walking to the site is not advisable and should be avoided due to the busy A350.
