Edington Arts is delighted to be hosting ‘An Evening with Craig Ogden’ at the Priory Church, Edington on Saturday 5th October, starting at 7.30pm.
Craig is the UK’s most recorded and most highly regarded classical guitarist, playing with orchestras and in recitals all over the world. He combines a dazzling technique with mastery and a love of many different musical styles, and the programme he will play reflects that.
From classical Scarlatti sonatas and a lovely JS Bach Lute Suite, through sun-drenched Spanish compositions from Albeniz, Torroba and Granados, to jazz by Django Rheinhart, a 1986 piece by Belgian guitarist and composer Armand Coeck, and two pieces by Gary Ryan demonstrating different folk styles – there really will be something for all musical tastes. The full programme is on www.edingtonarts.org .
All this wonderful music will be punctuated with anecdotes and footnotes from Craig himself. He started his career as a guitarist aged 7 in Perth, Australia, veered off toward percussion aged 13, then resumed what was to become a glittering career as a recording artist, concert guitarist and teacher. He is, in between times, Head of Guitar at the prestigious Royal Northern Conservatoire. Insights into a busy career spanning continents, with many ups and downs along the way as well as excellent music, will make for a great evening.
Book your tickets now by phoning 01380 831256, or by emailing Sue@edingtonarts.org; tickets are £20, £15 or £10, with 18 and under coming FREE. £2 extra on the door.
