WESTBURY Rugby said goodbye to a stalwart of the club with the passing of Peter Earney who died on Thursday 4thJune 2020.

He was a popular member of the club for many years, having been one of the original players when the club was founded in 1980.
Pete was not only the bar manager but was also the go to man for all sorts of repairs to the clubhouse and mechanical equipment. There wasn’t a job that he wouldn’t do, from spending many hours grass cutting on the ride on mower, which he maintained, to cleaning the beer lines and emptying rubbish bins.
Nothing was too much trouble for Pete and everyone was treated to a smile and friendly word whether they were a club regular, or a visitor to the bar. Peter would be on the touchline cheering on both the Men’s and Ladies team then just before the final whistle he would rush back to the bar to greet the supporters and players for the after-match drinks. Win or loose the warm welcome was always there.
Pete will be greatly missed by the whole of the Westbury “rugby” family, who would like to pass their kind thoughts to his wife Maggie and daughters Sammie and Robyn.
