A WESTBURY man who ran the London Marathon for the first time last weekend, says he would definitely do it again.
Mark Ogden joined almost 40,000 other runners to run the grueling 26.2 mile course for the first time and crossed the finish line with a time of 5:12. Mark said, “It was an amazing day – the London Marathon rocks! There was a brilliant atmosphere all the way around the course.
“I set off with a goal in mind of not stopping to walk. The last seven miles were tough, but the crowds were fantastic. Thank you to the thousands of supporters who turned out to cheer on the runners. I’m feeling the pain today, but feeling fantastic! Would I do it again? For sure I would!”
Mark is encouraging others to take up running and join the town’s running group.
Mark said, “It’s a great way to keep fit and make new friends, and in a few years’ time you could be running a marathon too! If I can do it anyone can.”
The group meets on Mondays and Wednesdays for an hour from 6.30pm at Leigh Park Community Centre. The club is part of the nationwide RunTogether scheme. The group is social, rather than competitive, and caters for all abilities. It costs £2 per session to attend.
