ORGANISERS of the Dilton Dash have donated £613 to local community group RAPID – Recreation And Play In Dilton.
The first ever Dilton Dash took place in May earlier this year and was a great success with almost 200 runners taking part. The money raised from the event was donated to the (RAPID) to help update the outdated play and recreation facilties at Dilton Marsh Playing Field.
Group member Rebecca Durham said, “Dilton Marsh Playing Field is a real asset to the village; it would be great to see this used to its full potential. We feel that the land is currently underutilised and that the play park is in desperate need of an upgrade.
“There are a number of local villages who have successfully improved play facilities and developed their range of recreational amenities. We hope to echo this and provide a well-used, valuable resource that Dilton Marsh can be proud of.
“We are absolutely delighted that the Dilton Dash raised £613 for the cause and would like to give our heartfelt thanks to Redfish Events and all the runners for their support.”
The group is now working closely with the Parish Council to move forward with the updates. Rebecca continues, “The council has been supportive of our ambition to undertake this project and we look forward to working closely with them to bring this project to fruition.”
Anyone who would like to offer their skills, ideas or time towards the can contact the group via email at rapid-dilton@outlook.com
