A DILTON Marsh parish councillor is gearing up to tackle an epic 86-mile trail run later this month.
William Johnson, who has been on the council since September 2015, will be taking part in the Ridgway Challenge to raise £500 for The Brain Tumour Charity.
“I decided to enter as a challenge as I love trail running,” he said. “I have previously done ultra marathons up to 33-miles, but nothing on this scale.
“I chose to support The Brain Tumour Charity as we know family and friends who have suffered and are suffering with brain tumours.”
The 86-mile course will take cllr Johnson along the Ridgeway National Trail, a 5,000-year-old trackway through the Chiltern Hills and North Wessex Downs, starting at Ivinghoe Beacon near Tring and ending at Avebury Stone Circle.
The challenge takes place over a 24-hour period and William has been busy training for the event. “Training is going well and has included the London Marathon this year.
“The biggest challenge will be running continuously, especially through the night section.”
William embarks on the Ridgeway Challenge over the August Bank Holiday weekend. To sponsor him, please visit his Just Giving page: www.justgiving .com/fundraising/william-johnson5
