Providence Baptist Church in Dilton Marsh will be holding a special service to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of WWI on Sunday 3rd August.
The war directly affected those who then worshipped at the church and the names of 10 men who gave their lives for their country are recorded on memorial stones and war graves in the chapel grounds. One served in the navy, the remainder in the army.
Andrew Stone, church secretary said, “The horrors of WWI prompted many people to question their belief in God. At this special service led by our Pastor Guy Davies, we will be looking at the question, ‘Why does God allow War?’ With so much bloodshed in so many conflicts in the world today, this question is still incredibly relevant.”
The service is at 10.30am and everyone is welcome. For directions, go to www.providence-ebenezer.org.uk.
