“As Christmas and the New Year draw closer, I find myself reflecting on all that has taken place in Westbury this year
“In the summer we had our Street Fayre that was very well attended, and our evening concert that was a great success and enjoyed by all.
‘We commemorated the 100th anniversary of the start of the Great War with the refurbishment and rededication of our war memorial, various talks and events.
“One hour’s free parking has been reinstated until 31st December and I would urge everyone to take part in the car parking review consultation that can be found on Wiltshire Council’s website and ends on 16th January.
“Our Christmas Street Event and Lights Switch-On on 22nd November was another great success enjoyed by all; I certainly enjoyed the festive fun.
“The town council is in discussion with Wiltshire Council about the possibility of taking over the allotments in the Groves, Queens Road, and will soon be preparing the budget for next year and looking at services that Wiltshire Council may not be providing in the future.
“I have attended many events and functions on behalf of the town council since I became Mayor in May and have been proud to do so. I am looking forward to the Grants Evening on 28th January and the Civic Awards and Reception on 27th February. If you know someone that you think deserves a Civic Award, please contact Westbury Town Council for details as the deadline is 4th January.
“And last but not least, I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year on behalf of all of us at Westbury Town Council.”
Cllr Mrs Christine Mitchell,
Mayor of Westbury
