WESTBURY Heritage Society is holding a talk titled ‘Westbury Shops 1960-1973 – A personal Memoir’ by Liz Argent on Tuesday 27th March at Westbury Methodist Church, Station Rd
The society said, “Can you recall when Westbury streets were lined with shops, when you could buy a suit and hat in Maristow Street, antiques in the Market Place, a newspaper at W H Smith on the Warminster Road or a quarter of your favourite sweets from glass jars at the local sweetshop?
“Well, for our next heritage society talk, Liz Argent will be taking us back in time to recall when our town had a wide variety of shops and a busy centre.
“Everyone is welcome, to what promises to be a fascinating talk and a chance to share your memories.”
The talk starts at 7.30pm. Admission is £1 for society members and £3 for non members. The annual subscription to join the Heritage Society is £8 per person. Membership forms are available in the Visitor and Heritage Centre.
