BUSINESSES on the West Wilts Trading Estate were evacuated last week when sticks of ‘dynamite’ – in reality theatrical props – were discovered.
14 six-inch long sticks marked as ‘dynamite’ were found in a skip on the estate on Tuesday 26th November. The police, fire service and explosive ordinance disposal team from Tidworth were called in.
Police set up a 200-metre cordon around the site and local businesses were evacuated.
The skip in question had been collected by 1st Call Skip Hire, and police were able to track down its origin. It was established that the sticks of ‘dynamite’ were props from a comedy series. The cordon was lifted shortly after midday.
