Edington Arts promotes concerts in the wonderful surroundings of Edington’s 12th Century Priory Church.
Its first concert of 2015 features The Welsh Sinfonia Wind Quintet, on Friday 20th February starting at 7.30pm.
Principal players from Wales’ leading chamber orchestra, which is based in Cardiff, will be playing an imaginative and lively programme of music either written or arranged for combinations of bassoon, oboe, flute, clarinet and horn.
The programme includes music that will be familiar – Arnold’s Sea Shanties, for instance – and some that will be a brilliant surprise, such as Ibert’s Trois Pièces Brêves. Then there’s ancient (Haydn) and modern (Britten), and more besides.
Some of the music, and the complete programme, can be heard and seen on Edington Arts’ new website www.edingtonarts.org. The site also has details of forthcoming concerts in the Priory Church, including a choral workshop with the internationally renowned composer Bob Chilcott in June.
Tickets for the Welsh Sinfonia Wind Quintet are £20/15/10 if booked in advance from music@edingtonarts.org or phone 01380 831256. 18 and under come free. Tickets bought at the door on the night will be £2 more.
