COULD you work with young people? Would you like a role in leisure? How about working in highways and transport? What about providing care for people who have just left hospital and needing to gain their independence again?

On Thursday 26th January, Wiltshire Council will hold a careers fair in the Atrium at County Hall in Trowbridge – offering insight into a range of different roles across the council. The fair, which is being held from 2pm to 6pm, will have representatives from 22 areas of the council on hand to showcase the breadth of opportunities available.

The event is open to all and will be a chance for people to ask about apprenticeships, work experience, flexible working opportunities, full and part-time roles and gain CV advice. The careers fair will also take opportunities a step further, as they will conduct mock interviews to help people prepare for work.

For those interested in support work in areas including reablement, Wiltshire Support at Home, day and respite, and the Intensive and Outreach Enablement Teams, there will also be interview slots available. People can apply for these jobs online at https://jobs.wiltshire.gov.uk/ and book an interview slot or email workexperience@wiltshire.gov.uk

Cllr Ashley O’Neill, cabinet member for staffing said, “Wiltshire Council has a great workforce which is focused on making a difference and delivering the best outcomes for our communities. There are people out there who can bring a variety of skills to us – that can mean expertise, and it can be energy and enthusiasm for learning which can really help us to continue to provide the right services for people in Wiltshire. The careers fair is an opportunity to talk to people who work in these areas, find out more and if it’s the right fit for you.

“For certain roles you can also book an actual interview slot to join us as a support worker and for those wanting more interview practice you can have a mock interview to help you prepare. There are lots of opportunities so we hope people will find out more and join us on the day.”

People can view the range of jobs on offer and reserve a place here: https://jobs.wiltshire.gov.uk/career-fair/

You can also read more about what it’s like to work at Wiltshire Council and the council identity on this link: https://jobs.wiltshire.gov.uk/our-identity

For those wanting to practice interview skills they can book an interview slot. There are three different job roles set up for the mock interviews which are receptionist, customer services officer and apprentice business support.

If you would like to book a place, email workexperience@wiltshire.gov.uk or call 01225 718040.
