EDINGTON Arts’ first ever trio concert will take to the stage on Saturday 2nd April at 7.30pm and organisers will be collecting on the night for those affected by the war in Ukraine.

A collection will be made for the Disasters Emergency Committee, an umbrella group of UK charities that organises appeals to raise funds to provide emergency aid to people caught up in disasters and humanitarian crises around the world.
Metamorphoses, an ensemble of piano, viola and clarinet will be the stars of the show to be held in Edington’s Priory Church.
Organisers say, “Metamorphoses represent a really global community; the pianist is Crimean-born/ long term Spanish resident, the violist is Dutch, and the clarinetist is American, living in Scotland. Each artist has an individually glittering career as a soloist or chamber music player, and they came together in 2016 to explore music written for this combination of instruments. They have been performing and recording together ever since.
“Against the background of the war in Ukraine, there will be a retiring collection at the end of the concert to be given to the Disasters Emergency Committee for their humanitarian work for the victims of the war in that country. Visitors to the Edington Arts website (www. edingtonarts.org) can get more information, and also follow a link to a film Metamorphoses made last year which demonstrates their multicultural approach, and the unifying power of music.
“The programme includes trios by Mozart, Bruch, Julius Röntgen and Jean Françaix which offer lush, subtle and melodic music over a span of three centuries. A special item in their programme will be a short piece, Metamorph, written specially for them by the Dutch composer Theo Loevendie, which was to have had its UK premiere in Edington in 2020 before the concert fell victim to Covid.”
Tickets are £20 for front nave, £15 for rear nave and £10 for the sides with a 10% discount for Edington Angels while those aged 18 and under can enjoy the concert for free. Ring Chrissy on 01380 831256 or email sue@edingtonarts.org to reserve your tickets.
