Fairfield College to offer teacher training course

FAIRFIELD Farm College, a special needs college based in Dilton Marsh, is offering an exciting new teacher training opportunity, starting in September 2021

The college provides opportunities for young people and adults with learning disabilities, and is now offering a limited number of applications to develop and train as a Further Education (FE) tutor in a unique educational setting. 

The college reports, “Unlike many traditional teacher training courses, the course is attended 1 evening per week, offering flexibility when trying to work full-time. The course can also be attended virtually online, adding another layer of flexibility to those who can’t attend in person. 

“Because of the unique educational setting, the college can offer teaching placements within the college, as well as offering training in a Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) environment. 

“Students will be able to learn a wide range of professional teaching methods, obtaining a diploma in Education and Training (Ascentis level 5) at the end of the 2-year course.”

Dr Graeme Athey, deputy principal at Fairfield Farm College said, “This exciting new course offers hands-on experience to those looking to train to be a teacher in a real-life educational environment. We are also able to offer teacher placements to our students, removing another additional pressure, and making the process that little bit easier.”
