FAIRFIELD Farm College on the High Street in Dilton Marsh has celebrated one year since first opening a Post Office Local.

The Post Office is a welcome and much-appreciated part of the community and although it has come with some operational difficulties, the college has embraced the challenges to ensure the village and surrounding areas benefits from a local post office.

Vice principal, Debbie Farley said, “The Post Office Local is a community service and since opening, we have been a vital part of village for many people.

“Opening the Post Office didn’t come without its struggles and it did take quite a while to get things running smoothly, but overall it has been a positive experience. It has increased our customer base and enhanced the onsite customer experience as we have the fantastic cafe and of course the shop. Adding the Post Office services means that local people collect their pension or send a parcel, pick up a few groceries and perhaps have a coffee and slice of homemade cake – all under one roof.

“Our customer service is second-to-none and we are always praised for the friendly and helpful service we provide. Customers may have a little wait at busy times because we only have one counter, but our staff are very efficient and most people are very patient and understanding.”

Fairfield Farm College wants to remind local people that the Dilton Marsh Post Office is a convenient choice for Post Office services following the closure of the Co-operative branch on 3rd October.

“We offer a range of Post Office Local services including banking services which are vital to many people as we see banks disappearing from our High Street. We also have free parking and great facilities, with plans to extend our shop and develop our range of produce.

“We are open Monday-Friday 9am-4pm and Saturday 9.30am-4pm but we are keen to work to business demands so if we find ourselves busier when the Westbury branch closes. these times could change.

“We are grateful for the support we have received since we opened but we still need people to continue with their support, as this is the only way we can remain in the village.”
