Wiltshire Family History Society, Westbury Area Branch, is running an exhibition paying tribute to those from Dilton Marsh who served in the First World War.
The exhibition will take place at Holy Trinity Church, Dilton Marsh, from Sunday 10th – Saturday 16th November.
Five years ago, the Westbury branch undertook a project to find the names of the men and women from Westbury and the surrounding villages who joined up and served in WW1.
Much is made of those who lost their lives in the conflict, with war memorials in villages, towns and cities around the country, but little is known those who joined up and returned.
Westbury Area Family History wanted to find out more about those men and women and pay tribute to them. All this information came together in an exhibition at All Saints Church last year.
Between 10th and 16th November the Family History Branch will stage a second exhibition, in Holy Trinity Church, of the information they have found about the men from Dilton Marsh who served.
“Please come and see the tribute to these men. You might even be able to add to this archive,” says the group.
