A Westbury charity shop is arranging lots of festive fun for the local community.
The Barnardo’s store in Palomino Place has organised a range of Christmas activities including raffles, competitions – and even a visit from Santa.
Profits will support the charity’s work with some of the UK’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people.
Shoppers are invited to buy raffle tickets for prizes including Christmas hampers, and to guess the number of assorted sweets in a jar, the weight of a home-made Christmas cake and the names of cuddly toys. Raffle and competition entries cost just £1.
A postal box has also been provided for children to send their letters to Santa before he visits the store on Wednesday December 11th.
The visit will last from 2-4.30pm and will also include coffees and mince pies, while children are invited to enter a colouring competition and to ice their own biscuits.
There will also be a lucky dip with various prizes, including many which have been donated by local businesses, and the draw for the winners of the raffle.
Barnardo’s store associate Hazel Bardsley said, “We want to encourage people to get into the festive spirit while browsing for a bargain, and we particularly want the children to have fun too.
“We hope it will put a smile on the faces of lots of local families.”
The Barnardo’s store is open Monday-Saturday from 9am-5pm and on Sundays from 10am-4pm, and always welcomes donations of good-quality clothes, books, toys, games, accessories and bric-a-brac.
The charity is also keen to hear from potential volunteers who can spare just a few hours each week to help with sorting the stock, arranging displays and serving customers.
