Westbury Rugby Club held its annual dinner and presentation evening in the club house at Knott Field on 14th May.
Club member Paul Couzens reports, “The guest speaker for the evening was Bath, England and British Lion hooker Mark Regan MBE, who shared hilarious anecdotes from his playing career with the assembled club members.”
Mark also presented the annual awards, which went to: Nigel Kershaw: 1st XV Players’ Player. Andrew Pittaway: 2nd XV Players’ Player. Reece Ball: 1st XV Captain’s Player. Ash Cummins: 2nd XV Captain’s Player and Most Improved Player. Patrick Bristow: Supporter of the Year. Julian Phelps: Clubman of the Year. Peter Earney: Most Valued Member. Ashley Hart: Colt of the Year. Mathew Inseal: Coaches’ Seal of Achievement. Christopher Bush: Chairman’s Shield.
Paul continued, “Finally there was a new award, sponsored all the way from Australia by ex-player Mike Stevens, for Long Service to the Club.
“It was awarded to Geoff Wheeler who has completed 30 years as a player and is still a regular in the front row playing for the 2nd XV.”
