PLANS have been submitted to convert the former Phil Stokes Motorcycles shop in West End into a two-bed dwelling following the closure of the shop earlier this year.
The shop closed in March after the owners decided to retire.
Westbury town councillors gave their support to the plans when it was discussed at a recent meeting of the council’s highways, planning and development committee, with councillors saying that the plans could make the most of the space.
Speaking at the meeting, cllr Jane Russ said, “This seems to have been considered quite carefully as the area is a tight space and they are utilising that space as best as they can.”
Cllr Gordon King added, “I will always remain concerned over the access onto West End, but I have been assured that this plan would not actually generate any additional traffic as people previously came to the area to visit the shop anyway.”
The plans will now go to Wiltshire Council for review. To view the plans and relevant comments about the application search PL/2023/07197 on Wiltshire Council’s planning portal.
