Sat. 23rd March. Toolstation Premier Div Westbury 0 Plymouth Parkway 4
Westbury United suffered a fourth consecutive defeat as visitors, Plymouth Parkway, continued their incredible run of 14 victories in a row.
The first two goals followed defensive errors and the fiercely contested first half including a number of strong challenges and fine moves by both sides, with Callum Demkiv as United’s main threat. On several occasions, Demkiv latched onto balls at the end of lovely moves involving Ricky Hulbert and Jamie Jordan, with his attempts being saved by the impressive Kyle Moore or deflected wide of the target.
At the other end, the home defence had things under control with keeper Ed Baldy saving well when called upon to deny Shane Krac. However on the half-hour, Baldy chose to punch rather than catch the ball and Mike Williams’ resulting corner was headed in by Adam Carter.
The 2nd goal came 5 minutes after the break when a poor clearance by Ian Jeffery allowed Teigan Rosenquest to set up Shane Krac who rifled the ball into the net.
Insanity then reigned for 5 minutes as Krac was red carded for a foul on Josh Ferguson. Then, just a minute after coming on, United’s Will Stead was shown the red card in what appeared to be a case of mistaken identity!
Parkway settled things down by clinching the points, but even that was controversial as Carter handled the ball before finishing.
With Westbury going on all-out attack to seek a way back, Steve Hulbert brought a great save out of Moore before visiting substitute Jordan Annear added the 4th on 83.
