LOCAL community support centre, Crosspoint, is working with a national charity, Community Money Advice (CMA), to provide free help and debt advice for local people.
With the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, more and more people are at risk of falling into debt, says Crosspoint. And while charities such as StepChange and Citizens Advice can provide support, they are do not operate in-person in Westbury and the surrounding villages.
Crosspoint, based in the Westbury Market Place is offering a free and confidential debt advice service and all contact will be face-to-face with volunteers (Money Mentors).
Chair of Crosspoint, Kevin Fairman, says, “We will work with you throughout the debt resolution process. This will begin by looking at your income and make sure you are claiming everything you are entitled to and then looking at your expenditure to assist you in setting a budget.
“We will identify priority debts that must be dealt with first and then go through the different debt options that may be open to you. This is so that you can make an informed decision on which option you would prefer to take.”
Crosspoint drop-in service is open on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1.30pm to 4pm, Fridays and Saturdays from 10am to 12.30pm. The debt advice service will be arranged on a one-to-one basis.
