A FREE workshop on how to protect yourself from sexual violence and domestic abuse will take place on Saturday 6th February at Leigh Park Community Centre.
The two-hour workshop is being run by local karate teacher Andy Wright who will give useful advice on how to prevent yourself becoming a victim of domestic abuse or sexual violence.
“According to the charity Rape Crisis England and Wales, approximately 85,000 women and 12,000 men are raped in England and Wales alone every year,” says Andy. “That’s roughly 11 rapes every hour. Also statistics show that one in five women aged 16-59 has experienced some form of sexual violence since the age of 16. That’s why we’re holding the workshop.
“Statistics about domestic violence also show two women are killed every week in England and Wales by a current or former partner. That’s one woman killed every three days.
“So, help keep yourself safe and attend the free workshop on Saturday 6th February at Leigh Park Community Centre, from 10am – 12pm (please arrive from 9.50am). Women and girls 12+, please register for event, text name and age to 07811 910214 or email enquiry@uksda.co.uk.
