A gentle exercise class in Westbury aims to help people improve their health and make new friends.
Movement Matters, which runs at Leigh Park Community Centre, can improve your overall health and well-being, leading to a more active and fulfilling life.
Organiser Gina Fry said, “It’s not a strenuous exercise class – it is an all-round self-care class, designed to improve health through movement, offering benefits that extend beyond physical fitness to mental and emotional wellbeing.
“If you suffer from aching joints, sore knees, weak muscles – this class can help!”
The class is mostly seated, with options to stand for balance and cognition training. The instructors running the classes are qualified in teaching older adults, chair-based exercise and Parkinson’s, and the benefits of the class can be felt across all groups of people.
“If balance is an issue, or you’re worried about memory loss, that can be helped too!” added Gina. “The benefits of Movement Matters sessions include improved flexibility and range of motion; better posture and alignment; reduced pain and discomfort; stress reduction and improved mental health; improved cognition for memory retention; stronger muscles to support your frame and allow normal daily tasks to be completed; improved balance; improved memory and problem-solving skills and improved social life – meet and make new friends!”
Classes cost £7.50 per week and take place every Wednesday at 1pm at Leigh Park Community Centre in Westbury.
