THE ever-popular Christmas Tree Festival held at All Saints’ Church in Westbury is returning to the town from next month.
This year’s festival will take place on Friday 2nd December from 2pm to 8pm, Saturday 3rd December from 10am to 8pm, and Sunday 4th December from 11am to 4pm. It will be opened by the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Wiltshire, William Wyldbore-Smith, and Westbury’s mayor, cllr Sheila Kimmins.
Last year proved to be a triumphant affair with over 1,000 people coming to check out the 40 plus trees that were decorated by local community organisations and businesses and the event managed to raise £2,000 for church funds.
Organisers say, “On the Friday, proceedings will begin at 6pm when the festival will officially open and students from Dance Craft will be performing during the evening.
“On Saturday, John Knapp’s lovely fairground organ will be playing festive music throughout the day in the churchyard. In the church, Hilperton Recorders will be playing from 1.30pm till 2.30pm and from 6.30pm onwards Mairwen and Fraser Guard will entertain us with their ukulele duets.
“On Sunday, the festival is open from 11am and closes with the annual Christingle service at 4pm during which a collection is taken in aid of the Children’s Society. Penny Bernstingle and friends will also be providing their lively folk music during the festival. Refreshments will be provided in the ‘Inn’ Friday to Sunday. Hot and cold drinks and cakes will be available.”
Entry to the festival is by donation and programmes will cost £1.00.
