RESIDENTS of Oldfield Park and Oldfield Road are being asked to complete a short survey about issues with parking, traffic calming and cycle lane parking in the area.
Westbury Town Council says it is collecting views from residents about the issues and will consider raising the concerns with Wiltshire Council, the body responsible for highways in the county.
Residents have said that following an increase in traffic in the area over the years, the road often sees a lot of traffic congestion as the traffic islands and speed bumps, which are designed to slow cars down and make the area safer for pedestrians, create more traffic congestion at peak times. Residents have also said that many cars simply drive through the gaps in the middle of the road, to avoid going over speed bumps so they don’t have to slow down.
Westbury Town Council says, “The council is aware of concerns about the parking issues, traffic calming and cycle lane parking on Oldfield Road and Oldfield Park. Residents are invited to complete a short survey and the council will consider raising concerns with Wiltshire Council’s local highways and footways improvement group (LHFIG), if that’s what residents would like us to do.
“Westbury Town Council is not a highway authority and has no enforcement power or the power to make decisions on highway-related matters, this is the responsibility of Wiltshire Council. The town council will work with Wiltshire Council to try and resolve highway problems and issues.”
The survey closes at 5pm on Wednesday 22nd May and can be found here: https://forms.office.com/e/RRPgSmVYSP
