ANYONE who’s ever wondered just how old their house is, could soon be in for an informative treat, thanks to the Westbury Heritage Society.
The society is hosting a talk this month by the county’s principal buildings historian, Dorothy Treasure, who will be calling on her extensive experience of fieldwork in Westbury to illustrate her talk.
Among the subjects she plans to mention is the Oak – the well known pub on the Warminster Road which was demolished to make way for the Aldi car park. Local people were horrified when the building, which did not have the protection of listing, was able to be demolished.
‘How Old is Your House’ takes place at the Methodist Church on Station Road on Tuesday 28th November starting at 7.30pm. Everyone is welcome to what promises to be a fascinating talk. Admission is £1 for society members and £3 for non members.
