DILTON Marsh Village Hall will be playing host to a fundraising concert next month with veteran jazz duo Millar and Spencer.
Saxophonist Ian Millar and pianist Dominic Spencer will be performing in the village hall, as part of their ‘Jazz in the Village’ national tour. The tour will take them to village halls across the country.
Dominic said, “We have been very successful at transforming the village halls into an intimate cabaret style jazz club setting with low lighting and candles on the tables. We now have very many fond memories of wonderful evenings in halls around the country, where the reception we have received and audience comments have been fantastic.”
Their style of jazz concentrates on developing melodic ideas within the framework of the melody of a tune, whilst maintaining the concept and groove behind it. The result is a very accessible melodic style which allows them to explore, improvise and interact together in as creative a way as possible.
The concert will be held on Sunday 8th March, and will raise money to help with the upkeep of the hall. It will begin at 8pm and tickets are £8 each, and can be bought in advance or on the door.
