FOLLOWING the huge success of last year’s Clean for the Queen campaign, Wiltshire Council is encouraging local communities to get involved in the Great British Spring Clean.
Individuals, community groups, charities, businesses, clubs and schools are being asked to join the clean up which will take place from 3rd-5th March. Organisers hope this will become an annual event and inspire people to become litter-picking heroes, sending a clear message that we all want to live in a cleaner country free from litter.
Westbury community engagement manager, Liam Cripps said, “The response from the Westbury community for Clean for the Queen was fantastic. It would be great to have more clubs, schools and businesses involved and show our support for the campaign.”
You will need to register your clean up online at www.greatbritishspringclean.org.uk/home/2684
Kits are available but they are limited, so get in touch with Westbury community engagement manager, Liam Cripps on liam.cripps@wiltshire.gov.uk or 01225 713143 to order yours.
Local MP Andrew Murrison – pictured above – attended the Parliamentary launch of the Great British Spring Clean
Dr Andrew Murrison said, “I wanted to help with The Great British Spring Clean as it is really important to encourage people to go out and clean up their communities. The initiative also provides a useful opportunity to raise awareness of the problems litter causes. I am really hoping people in South West Wiltshire will get behind the campaign.
“Keep Britain Tidy chief executive, Allison Ogden-Newton, commented, “It was fantastic to see Dr Andrew Murrison come out and support our campaign. The Great British Spring Clean is about getting all Britons who care about their environment to take action and I’m looking forward to seeing lots of people out and about, contributing to cleaning up their communities on 3rd 4th and 5th of March.”
