PEOPLE of Westbury are being encouraged to join with the rest of the country in celebrating Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday this year.
In preparation for the royal celebration, countrywide campaign, ‘Clean for the Queen’ has been launched which encourages volunteers to tidy their local area.
Westbury’s community engagement manager, Liam Cripps, would like Westbury to join the nationwide campaign. He said, “I would like to see the Westbury community area taking part in this clean up project. Anyone can get involved; schools, sport clubs, social groups, church groups, local business, families, individuals, town and parish council.
“Sadly litter is an issue that affects all of us, but together we can make a difference and take pride in where we live, work and play. I’d love to see lots of people from our community taking part in the ‘Clean for The Queen’ weekend on 4th,5th and 6th March.
“If you would be interested in volunteering then please email me: liam.cripps@wiltshire.gov.uk and for more information, follow me on Twitter @Westburycem.”
Then on Sunday 12th June, communities all over the country will be holding street parties to celebrate the Queen’s birthday. Liam Cripps would like to hear from you if you would like to help organise a street party.
Liam said, “It would be great if the community could organise something. There are lots of options to get involved which I’d be delighted to talk through with you.”
Wiltshire Council has put together a guide on how to plan a street party. For more information visit
