Westbury Junior Rugby Club is joining forces with Warminster Junior Rugby Club with immediate effect, to become Warminster & Westbury Junior Rugby Club in a trial until the end of the season.
The club said, “We have battled hard to keep the junior section running this season, but with numbers now at a record low and players being swallowed up by larger clubs, we cannot continue alone.
“We believe together we will be strong enough to rival the larger clubs in the area, so that we can offer the children even better coaching, competition and the best chance to fulfil their potential.
“We will be joining Warminster’s fixtures to make up barbarian-style teams, wearing our own colours with a bib, and if all goes well, a joint kit in the future.
“The idea will be for one week at Westbury and one week at Warminster as the clubs are only a 13 minute drive apart.
“We have been very close to a disbandment of the junior section, so if you love this club and you can help us make this work, we would all be so grateful.
“We do require urgent need of more coaches and help, so if any parents can commit to parent coaching (training and courses will be provided) please message us. Alternatively admin or kitchen help would also be appreciated.”
