Merry King, originally from Shanghai, recently moved to Westbury and is offering lessons in Mandarin for people of all ages and abilities.
Merry said, “I really enjoy teaching Chinese because it’s such a social thing to do – as well as learning the language we can talk about the culture, food, and travelling as well.
“I qualified five years ago and taught English-speaking people in Shanghai. A lot of Chinese people in this country speak Cantonese, but Mandarin is the most spoken in China – I call it the real Chinese!
“I would be happy to tutor anybody – children or adults – whether they have never tried it before, or if they just want to make sure they don’t forget.
“I run the classes one-to-one or in groups and can set up the lessons in person or online via Skype. I chose to teach because I enjoy showing people my own culture and learning about English culture at the same time.
“I really enjoy cooking and travelling and lived in China for 40 years so I have plenty to teach!”
