INVESTIGATIONS into a fire at a Westbury scrapyard last month are continuing. The fire, which started during the evening of Monday 28th May at JP Jones Autospares on the West Wilts Trading Estate, required around 40 firefighters to deal with the incident. Acetylene cylinders on the site made the blaze harder to tackle, and a 200m exclusion zone was set up. By Tuesday morning the exclusion zone had been reduced to a small cordon while the fire service completed their work and investigators started on site. A number of scrap cars were burnt in the blaze, as well as a workshop.
Wiltshire Police are treating the fire as suspicious and ask anyone with information to contact DI John Rogers on 101.
