A new family fun day is coming to Westbury on Sunday, featuring donkey rides, circus acts, food stalls, live music, and a tug-o’-war competition, all organised jointly by the Westbury and Trowbridge Lions Clubs.
The event will be held at the White Horse Country Park on Sunday 1st September from 11:30am to 4:00pm.
One of the organisers Rick Jotcham said, “It’s going to be a fantastic family day out with donkeys, circus acts, live music, food stalls, super heroes, games, funfair rides and slides, craft activities, stationery engines and lots more! It will be an event for the whole family, for all ages.”
There will be live music from Kirsty Clinch, Wade Merritt, Blueburst and Stuart Saye.
Blueburst are a duo with Francis Butler – singer, songwriter and guitarist who also hosts the weekly local ‘Open Mic’ at the Angel Westbury – and Tim O’Brien, organist and keyboard player. They play pop and soft rock covers mainly from the 1960s onwards.
Kirsty Clinch is a professional musician and independent country and pop singer / songwriter and has a big following on Instagram, and a big fan base in America. Her first worldwide single ‘Fit The Shoe’ hit number 6 in the iTunes country music charts and 137 in the main iTunes charts. Her official album, Evolution, also reached number 4 in the iTunes country album charts.
Singer/songwriter/guitarist Wade Merritt incorporates the nostalgic sounds of the 70s into his original material. Composing since 2016, he has supported the likes of Toyah, Ian Holloway, and Tom Hingley, to name a few. More recently, Wade has released two singles, which are available on all streaming platforms.
Stuart is a local singer / guitarist performing solo covers including rock & roll, The Beatles, Stereophonics, Oasis and Pink Floyd. He has been performing for many years around the South West of England.
The tug-o’-war competition will feature teams from local clubs and organisations, all bidding to win the first prize of £100. The tournament will feature separate heats for ladies and men, culminating in a grand final for each.
Entry for the day is £5 for adults, £1 for teens and children free. All proceeds will go to local causes.
