LOCAL events company, Quest, recently completed a charity challenge to celebrate 20 years of trading.
Martyn Ward, who is the company director of Quest, lives in Westbury with his wife and two daughters. He said, “I wanted to undertake a challenge that would catch potential sponsors’ imagination.
“The 275 mile challenge, which was completed across five days over the bank holiday weekend, involved initially cycling seven miles from our offices in Coulston to the Wharf in Devizes. This was followed by 125 mile paddle to central London on a two-man sit-on top kayak (which is the equivalent of completing the Tour de France on a Penny Farthing!) I was joined by my colleague Daniel Carrivick on this stage of the challenge.
“Whilst in London, I completed the second phase of the challenge, which involved running a marathon, which I started at the London Eye and finished at Tower Bridge, having run through all the central London parks.
“The final stage of the challenge involved cycling 117 miles from Tower Bridge back to Coulston. I was joined by my brother and fellow director Richard, Richard’s son Greg and Mike Kaye.
“We set a target time of 60 hours to complete the entire challenge but we are delighted to say that we completed it in 44 hours 10 minutes.”
Martyn is delighted with how the challenge went. He said, “It went very well, it was well planned and well executed. With work and family commitments, we were as prepared as we could be. My family have been very patient and supportive.”
They hope to raise in excess of £2,000 to be split between the British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research UK and Children in Need. Having completed the challenge, their focus is now to maximise the fund-raising.
