A DAD of three from Bratton has completed a journey right across the widest part of England to raise money for Bath’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
Keen biker Lee Edge wanted to complete the 401 mile challenge on his beloved Yamaha R1 motorcycle to raise funds for the unit after his eldest son Liam was admitted shortly after birth.
On Saturday 29th August Lee left Deal on the east coast at 5.30am to make his way to Land’s End. Riding along the coast, avoiding motorways and main roads where possible, Lee reached Land’s End 10 minutes before it closed at 5.00pm.
In the process Lee managed to raise £1,330 for the cause.
“It was a great feeling especially after so long on the road and so many miles,” he said. “I was pretty tired and sore by then, but the first pint was well deserved! I’m really pleased with the total raised as it is a lot more than I originally thought I would be able to raise.”
Along the way Lee saw some stunning scenery, including a beautiful sunrise in Kent. His journey took him through Hastings, Brighton, Poole and Exeter.
Lee added: “Riding along the coast was amazing and not something you would normally do. Some of the scenery was fantastic and I saw windmills, castles, unique churches and gorgeous architecture in places.”
It’s not too late to sponsor Lee, you can do so by visiting http://www.justgiving.com/bits-east-to-west-motorcycle-trip-for-nicu/.
