LOCAL supporters of the Trowbridge committee of Cancer Research UK, have been thanked for their continued support. The committee’s chair Maura Thompson said, “I would like to say ‘thank you’ to all our supporters who helped to make November a very happy and successful one!
“Our quiz at the Staverton Club on Wednesday 12th November, compiled and delivered by Sylvia Preston, was well attended and teams enjoyed a tasty supper at half time when the raffle was drawn. The contributions from this event were £195.
“On Saturday 15th November the buzz began early at the Festive Coffee Morning in Heywood and Hawkeridge village hall when 10 keen stall holders started setting up their amazingly creative and unique homemade crafts, while Christmas tunes filled the air.
“A constant stream of visitors enjoyed browsing the stalls and chatting with friends over a cup of coffee and a slice of delicious homemade cake, including gluten-free and dairy-free cupcakes.
“We are delighted to tell you that your fantastic generosity has raised a grand sum of £753 for vital research.
“In the 1970s the survival rate was one in four, today it is two in four and the aim is to achieve three in four in the next 20 years.
“Whether you were a stallholder, helped to set up, donated a cake or popped in for a cuppa……you helped to gather more funds for research into diagnosing and bringing forward the day when all cancers are cured.
“I would like to thank you sincerely for the time and effort you have given to make this event so successful! Special thanks must go to Sainsbury’s in Trowbridge and Windyridge Cheese for their very generous contributions to the raffle!
“The competition to ‘Name the Bear’ was won by little Dylan Mahaffey of Trowbridge who guessed his name correctly as Robert!
“Your invaluable and loyal support inspires us to do more. If you would like to help our small committee in any way please contact myself on 07515 435993. We will Beat Cancer Sooner………Join the fight”
