A Westbury charity is appealing for donations of furniture and electrical appliances to help continue their work helping local people.
Imperial Charity has issued an appeal for donations of pre-loved furniture and electrical appliances for its Westbury shops. The charity offers a free collection service for donated items.
All money raised from donations goes towards helping to enrich the lives of local senior citizens and people of all ages with special educational needs and disabilities.
Angie Nicol, retail operations manager at Imperial Charity, said, “The volume of donations being offered to the charity declined during the autumn and Christmas period, as the uncertainty caused by the budget and economic situation caused people to defer expenditure on new furniture and appliances.
“The charity urgently needs clean, good quality items in saleable condition, including beds, wardrobes, sofas, dining tables and white goods.”
With the money raised, the charity funds musical entertainment sessions for a variety of local groups such as Beyond Dementia, Warminster Stroke Club and the Warminster and Westbury Visually Impaired Club, with over 120 sessions booked for 2026.
It also runs an annual coach trip programme for local senior citizens and people of all ages with special educational needs and disabilities, with six trips planned during the summer months departing from Westbury and Warminster.
The charity also awards grants to Wiltshire SEND schools, having recently donated £2,200 to Crowdys Hill School in Swindon for a whole school trip and Christmas presents and £2,000 for Downland School in Devizes to purchase a school football strip and related equipment.
