FRIENDS and families of children who attend BebeTots Nursery & Pre-School have raised an £1,148 for Dorothy House Hospice Care.

Staff and children recently presenteda a cheque for the amount to Steph Cox, from Dorothy House Hospice Care.

Money was raised in the week leading up to the Easter weekend. The nursery and pre-school reports, “All the children have participated in many activities throughout the week to include making bunny ears, space hopper races, Easter egg hunts, making Easter cards, cakes and biscuits, planting carrots, and making potato cress heads, playing sleeping bunnies, sensory Easter play and multiple hopping assault courses to name a few.”

Jennifer Morris, manager of BebeTots Nursery & Pre-School said, “Dorothy House is a charity close to my heart, they supported my father, and us as a family, when my father was diagnosed with cancer in May 2016 and even after his passing in November 2017.

“Dorothy House provides free care for people in their catchment area, covering 700sq miles throughout Bath & North East Somerset, Wiltshire, and Somerset, who have a life limiting illnesses.

“Dorothy House support families through coffee mornings, provide emotional and psychological assistance, advice and general support.  The physio, complementary and occupational therapies, and spiritual care provide additional services alongside their day patient services, supporting patients throughout different stages of their illness.

“Their specialist nurses provide a hospice at home service and care within their inpatient unit which holds 10 beds, supporting end of life and critical care.

“For every £1 that Dorothy House receive from the NHS, they are required to raise an additional £5 themselves to fund the work and care they provide.

“Therefore, when Steph approached us at BebeTots Nursery & Pre-School asking if we wanted to participate in the ‘Bunny Hop for Dot’, we were more than happy to support them.

“I am thankful to my team for coming up with all the activities for the children to participate in, so proud of the children participating and grateful to their friends and families for all of their support.”
