Local childcare provider Step Up Pre-School, located in Dilton Marsh, has expanded its services with the launch of a new baby unit and is now also welcoming babies.
An open day was held last month to mark the occasion and for prospective parents to see the final result of the Glow Worm Room, a space designed specifically for babies aged 6 to 23 months.
Councillor Sheila Kimmins, who attended the event, praised the new baby unit, saying, “The Glow Worm baby unit contains all the elements needed for the care and comfort of the little ones. It has age-appropriate toys and an outdoor area where they can sleep in the fresh air or, when old enough, play. All the staff are highly trained, especially in caring for this young age group.”
Staff said they were ‘over the moon’ with the positive comments and feedback from the open day. “The new baby room is of exceptional standard and demonstrates the thought and care that has gone into making it an ideal environment for babies,” said one family.
Preschool manager, Rachael Dean, expressed her delight at the successful launch. “We had a range of people attending, including parents who had already signed their babies up to join us in September for the new academic year. We are extremely grateful that they put their faith in us initially, without even having a building to show them!”
The event also featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Mayor Jane Russ, who shared her enthusiasm for the new facility. “I was thrilled they asked me to cut the ribbon. The quality of the staff, the facility, and the joy of the parents who attended was truly energising. The whole of Step Up Preschool should be the gold standard for all such schools in Wiltshire, and the new baby department is no exception.”
Rachael Dean also acknowledged the local tradespeople who helped bring the project to life under a tight deadline, thanking James Dean of JAD Property Services, Mike Cooper of MJC Construction, Robb Williams of BMR Services, Jake Owens Electrician, Skip It Re-Cycling and Alex Jonik of AJ’s Cleaning Services.
The new baby room is open Monday to Friday, from 7am to 6pm, 48 weeks a year.
