COMEDY and food will be showcased at the Laverton on Friday 27th September as part of Westbury Festival.
Mike Pearce, a founding member of the festival said, “Although we like to ring the changes, sometimes something is so popular, we can’t not do it again”. The festival’s partner, Submarine Comedy, have turned up trumps with another brilliant line up, including as headliner, the multi-award winning Steve Day, who describes himself as Britain’s only deaf comedian; and, if there are any others, he says he definitely hasn’t heard of them.
He’s a regular on BBC radio and infamously appeared with Bill Nighy who he punched in “All Fingers & Thumbs” but points out that he also did “Sound Barriers” with Caroline Quentin and Patricia Routledge and neither were hit.
Steve is backed up by a full card of comics including David Arnold as MC, Richard James, Juiann Moss and more.
Jane Russ who is leading the group previously known as’ team sausage’ but renamed “Le groupe lentilles” this year, explained, “The food and comedy evening has proved extremely popular, it makes a proper night out. The food is simple, delicious and all homemade and, there’s just enough time to fit a meal around the fabulous acts.”
Committee member, Mary Pyne said, “I am particularly pleased that in addition to offering food suitable for vegans and vegetarians, we are able to offer gluten free food for those who need it. Just specify your choice when booking your ticket.” This year’s meal will be an apple, lentil and vegetable casserole (with or without pork) and French bread, followed by a scrumptious chocolate brownie.
