A Westbury woman has created seasonal art displays outside her home to bring joy to the community.
Louise Bunce has created the displays on an old bicycle outside her home for the last five years. In the past, she has created huge displays for Halloween, Easter, Valentine’s Day, Remembrance Day and Christmas.
For Christmas this year, Louise has made a 12ft wreath display out of an old trampoline and spare foliage.
“I needed a little project during lockdown to channel my frustrated artistic itch and to spread a little love and hope during dark times,” said Louise. “Thus, the little display bike was born.”
“It’s continued to be my little platform to spread a sprinkling of joy and to hopefully make a few people smile as they stroll by the house.”
Louise works at Bratton Primary School as a health and safety officer. She also organises the annual Bratton Primary School Scarecrow Trail around the village.
“I’ve always loved art and creativity yet somehow ended up working and specialising in risk and compliance as a school health and safety officer! That’s why I set up and organised the Bratton Primary School Annual Scarecrow Trail,” said Louise.
“I just wanted to encourage others to embrace their creativity and have a larger village art project which the whole community, regardless of age, could attend and enjoy. Seeing other people step outside their comfort zones and achieve the level of artistic flair which was displayed on the trail blew me away.
“It just goes to show that random old tat found, painted and bodged together can be rather joyful! So, the bike is a very small and personal art project for me, with my aim for local folks to have a little smile when they walk by.”
