Dilton Marsh Carnival Committee has been awarded £2,900 by the Big Lottery Fund, enabling them to buy equipment to enhance the event.
Kathy Hutt, chair of Dilton Marsh Carnival Committee said, “I am very excited that we have received this money which has enabled us to buy a marquee, tables and chairs for use at Dilton Marsh Carnival and other events. We will also be offering the equipment for hire at a very competitive price. Many thanks to carnival committee member Steve Poulter, who worked hard to complete the application forms for the grant.
“Dilton Marsh Carnival will take place on Saturday 28th June from 11.30am to 3.30pm. The theme is ‘Down on the Farm’ and there will be fun activities for all the family.
“In our new marquee, we will be serving fine ale, cider and wine, with live entertainment from local talent. Holy Trinity Church will offer hot and cold drinks, plus freshly-made sandwiches and cakes. We have animals big and small from Magic Moments, plus our own ‘farmyard’ where children can play, plant a sunflower and hook a duck. There will be a bouncy castle, races, horseshoes, vegetable shy, welly wanging, ice creams, face painting and a range of stalls and exhibits. A special prize will be awarded in our grand draw. All in all, a chilled afternoon for all to enjoy.”
This year’s Dilton Marsh Carnival Royal Family will be chosen at the Village Day on Saturday 14th June at Dilton Marsh Primary School, starting at 11.00am. Entry forms are available now from the school, the Village Store and Crowning Glory. The winners will receive their prizes on carnival day.
